My room is rectangular in shape, and since I began teaching in that room some seven years back, my boards & screen (basically, the “front” of my room) have been on the long side of the rectangle. This left me with a wide and shallow spot to house seating for 30, pushing many to the extreme edges of my room, which in turn made seeing the board difficult.
This year, I’m going to try and change things up. The idea is to rotate the setup by 90°, making the “front” along the smaller side and having my storage situated along the longer sides. So far, the boards have moved and the big cabinets are pretty close to their final resting spots. There is still lots to do before the school year begins though, and this is very much a work in progress.
As is this blog. Post number one is in the books!
